Interview with IMTJ

 Hey guys. We are back again with another interview with one of Abuja’s top and fast rising rapper IMTJ. Read some interesting facts about him as he also gets to talk about his Upcoming EP "TRAP AND POETRY" Check out the interview below!!!!!!!

• What's your full name? 

 My full name is Micheal Robinson

•  Where were you born and raised?   

I was born in Edo state and I was raised both there and in Abuja.

•  When is your birthday?

 July 21st 1996.

• At what time in your life did you realize that you want to start making music? 

 I realized I wanted to start making music professionally in 2013.

•   In regards to music what musical instruments do you play? 

 I don't play any musical instruments sadly.

•   Tell us about your experience in the studio the first time you wanted to record? 

 My experience the first time I wanted to record is the same every time I want to record till date, Just being happy about making something unique.

•   Do your parents know and support the fact that you do music?

 Yeah my parents completely support my music.

•  Which musicians do you look up to in the music industry both local and international?

 I don't really have any local artists I look up to cause non of them make the type of music I listen to. Internationally though .. Travis Scott and Mick Jenkins have been my favorite artists for the longest.

•  Who are you favorite Abuja artistes?

 My favorite ABJ artists are Kuddi,Psycho,Zilla,Hipochris and Nano

•   Tell us about your first performance and where?

My first performance was at a show back in 2015, I can't completely recall in details the name of the event and all, but it was here in Abuja.

• Give us any update about your upcoming EP Trap and Poetry? Release date? whose gonna be on the EP?

Well my EP trap&poetry is something I've been working since late 2015. The meaning behind is definitely too long for me to tell you all about it through the DM's. But it's very different from your everyday music.It's gonna be out sometime this summer. The music is all about me for now on the EP so I barely featured anyone besides Hipochris.

•    If you were approached by an upcoming artiste and he/she wants to work with you on a track what would be your response?

 Anytime I get asked for a feature I'm always willing to do it but on one condition which is you have to extremely good at you're doing.

•   What is your take on the music being produced in Abuja?

 My take on the ABJ music scene is that hiphop is being neglected. Everyone is focusing on afropop even if they don't like it. Just because that's what sells.

•    Asides music what other hobbies do you have?

 Apart from music, I like writing poetry.

•  What advice do you have for upcoming Artistes out there? 

 As for advice for upcoming artists here is.. To find yourself and make music you actually like, don't do something cause other people are doing it,don't follow trends, just do you.
